Lab Fabricated Adhesion Dentistry:
Adhesion Fixed Bridges
The concept of adhesion dentistry has quite naturally expanded to fulfill the demand of fixed bridgework but on a limited basis.
If the abutment teeth are free of both decay and previously placed dental restorations, the patients may be a candidate for noninvasive adhesion short-span porcelain/composite or porcelain-fused-to-metal adhesion bridges.
The following photographs are example of adhesion bridgework in porcelain/composite and porcelain-fused-metal.
Patient's concern: function, realistic cosmetic results, and invasion of adjacent healthy teeth.

In this case the lateral incisors were missing. They were replaced with an "ENCORE" porcelain/composite adhesion bridge. (The patient wanted to retain the space between his two front teeth).

This case demonstrates a " Maryland bridge", where the missing tooth is replaced with porcelain fused to the metal framework. The framework is then adhered to the abutment teeth.
This technique has limited application, and the greatest success when used for single tooth replacement in low-leveraged area of the mouth. (Low-leveraged area of the mouth are toward the front teeth, while high level-leveraged area are toward the back molars.)

Porcelain tooth replacements can be fused to metal and permanently adhered to healthy adjacent teeth. These porcelain fused-to-metal tooth replacements thereby become very much like your own teeth in appearance, function and durability.
