*Amalgam can now be placed with adhesive agent.

The replacement of failing amalgam restorations with a pre-capsulated amalgam restoration has a success record that cannot be denied.

Advantage: conservation of tooth structure, placement of a decay-resistant material, low cost, and the historical success of this material over the last 150 years.

Disadvantages: cosmetically poor, non-adhesive material* and the possible toxicity ("controversial") of the material.
